5 Reasons Why You Should Use Your Wildcard NOW!

261750-13881915829798355-George-Acs1. YOU’VE HAD A BAD START
It’s widely regarded among veteran MLS Fantasy players that any ranking in the top 50% is great going. So if you’re not in the top 20k, you should activate your wildcard.

Jedward-1024x6762. YOU HAVEN’T PREPARED FOR THE DGWs
Now that we’re a few weeks into the season, some of the newer players have realized that DGWs mean a team plays twice. This can be twice as good, seeing as a single gameweek usually clocks in at half of a double.

rig_mand3. YOU NEED TO BUILD TEAM VALUE
Down to 117.0m already? Don’t worry, capitalize on the fluctuating transfer market throughout the week to cash in on price changes. You can make 5.0m if you’re attentive, and before long you’ll be able to afford that Mulholland/Reo-Coker midfield you’ve been pining for.

670px-Evaluate-Shock-in-First-Aid-Step-84. TAKE YOUR RIVALS BY SURPRISE
They won’t be expecting you to waste your wildcard in GW5, so why not use it now? It will give you the edge, and some much valued momentum going into the congested mid-season.

3116219384_1a530e265d5. FILL THAT BENCH
Even the top MLS Fantasy players have low budget, non-playing, crap stinking out the locker room. Filling out your roster completely with an active playing staff could be the difference between a top 10k finish or an absolutely shocking one.

GW4 – THREE Players That Could Shine in the International Break

Republic-of-Ireland-Robbie-KeaneROBBIE KEANE (LA Galaxy)
Finally showing Martin O’Neill what he’ll be missing last week with a stupendous individual goal at home to Alan Coyle’s Houston Dynamo, Keane is a must-have for GW4 as a strong Galaxy team travel to a woeful DC United still smarting from a 2-0 defeat last weekend.

Antonio Valencia Manchester UnitedKofi Opare (DC United)
A tall, powerful defender who’s dangerous from set-pieces, Opare leads his plucky DC United team into battle against a Galaxy team weakened by several key international absences. All the signs are that he may see his first minutes of the season this weekend, and if he does you can be 100% sure he’ll be in the action.

Evans_Brad_cropCLINT DEMPSEY (Seattle Sounders)
Uh oh. Differential alert! Why only 28% of managers have selected him for their team is a mystery to me. There’s a good reason this USA international is always the first name on Jurgen Klinsmann’s roster, and that’s because he gets you goals and assists for fun. Expect him to be the top scoring midfield star this GW.

GW3 – The Dangermen

steven_caldwell.jpg.size.xxlarge.letterboxSTEVEN CALDWELL (Toronto FC)
Costing only 7.4m and owned by 0.4% of managers, the ex-Wigan stalwart is surely on most people’s radars. I don’t think you can afford to wait too much longer to bring the consistent Scotsman onto your roster. He has totalled 6 recoveries so far in 135 minutes of game time and in contention for bonus points. He’s not a goal threat on set pieces, and didn’t register any assists last season, but with a bye this week, he’s sure to be well-rested for the hard season ahead.

ciara-sherwood-2PATRICK MULLINS (New York City)
With David Villa being so hit and miss in his first two games, it can’t be ignored that Mullins scored in his 7 minute appearance last week. This is incredible no matter what league you play in.

Don’t be surprised if Villa is on the bench and Mullins helps your fantasy team fly up the rankings.

KENNEDY IGBOANLAHOR (Chicago Fire)
Uh oh! Big striker potential alert! The teenage Nigerian has looked like a real steal for us Fantasy managers. Hasn’t registered any serious points yet, but at 7.5m it’s understandable that he’s not the finished product. Will probably take Amarikwa’s place in the next game. One to keep an eye on.
